My name is Salma. I'm a PhD student from Egypt, currently based in Chicago IL. I've always loved drawing and storytelling, but I only started taking it seriously when I worked in a community center in Cairo where our activities and practices all revolved around the idea of learning through art.

I don't often have a plan when I start drawing something. I start with a feeling or shape then let it play out into a tiny, static story. While I've always loved doodling with pen on paper, my recent outputs have been digital (with the exception of my experiments in printmaking). I have a lot to learn, as do we all...

I've been asked to illustrate things like project reports, podcast covers, logos, and social media posts. I like contributing artwork to community-based and educational projects, but I'm open to illustrating all sorts of projects.
